About the role

Here at Northumbrian Water Group, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Proactive Maintenance Manager who will provide strategic, technical and people-focused leadership to drive NWG toward world-class performance in asset reliability and proactive maintenance.

Reporting to the Reliability Engineering Manager within the Maintenance & Reliability Engineering Department, this role is accountable for driving continuous improvement of the Technical Maintenance Plan, ensuring all activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards while fostering strong collaboration with internal teams, external contractors, and regulatory bodies.

You will establish and lead a proactive maintenance team, implementing preventative maintenance strategies for critical wastewater assets such as screens and pumps, and creating a high-performance, safety-focused, and collaborative team culture.

In addition, you will take ownership of maintenance-related wastewater compliance issues, responding promptly to regulatory inquiries and adapting the maintenance plan as needed to strengthen reliability and resilience across operations.

About you

If you have proven experience leading and inspiring multi-disciplinary maintenance teams, with a focus on team development, performance management, and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment – we would love to hear from you!

You will have a HNC or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Maintenance Engineering, providing the technical foundation necessary to lead teams and deliver innovative safety-led maintenance solutions.

You can design and execute strategic maintenance initiatives that improve asset reliability while balancing regulatory obligations and available maintenance resources to support wastewater ODI targets.

You will have extensive knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems such as Maximo, with experience creating preventative maintenance plans, job plans, sequencing, and applying Uniclass and Problem, Cause, Remedy codes.

You will have a strong understanding of wastewater compliance frameworks and regulations, with a track record of aligning maintenance activities to meet regulatory requirements.

You will have exceptional communication and relationship building skills to engage with stakeholders including regulators, senior leaders and team members, and gain buy-in for initiatives.

This is as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
