We are currently recruiting for multiple experienced Intelligence Analysts to work on a long-term, full-time contract. The offices are based across the Midlands.


The role will be situated within a security setting, so applicants must be able to obtain national security vetting.


Role overview:


To enhance operational policing in relation to foreign national offending as well as other client priorities through the timely delivery of analytical techniques and products that inform the decision making process and support the strategic aims at the client level or wider policing community.


Main Responsibilities:


1. To analyse data from a variety of internal and external sources, using a structured mental reasoning process to infer meaning that goes beyond the known facts. To reduce a mass of data to an understandable form; to develop hypotheses ; and to make recommendations for problem solving policing activity, based upon the analysis.

2. To decide what qualitative data sources to be used for analyses; how best to access and retrieve that data. To evaluate the how significant, important, relevant, credible data is and to handle the data in accordance with legislation and best practice, all with a view to problem solving, identifying intelligence gaps, and links and associations between data.

3. Assist and advise the senior managers in the development of effective policing tactics and strategies by preparing and presenting high quality key intelligence products in suitable formats and proposing possible solutions to current and predicted activities.

4. Develop and maintain standard analytical products in order to inform tactical and strategic risk and opportunity management, decision making and the effective deployment of resources/assets.

5. To disseminate operational and organisational analytical and intelligence products

clearly to police officers and other appropriate personnel through verbal, written and graphical presentations.

6. Maintain an awareness and understanding of the latest developments in intelligence analysis and the force strategic policies.

7. To work as part of the Intelligence Unit providing analytical products, meeting the customer requirements of various departments in line with clearly defined and agreed terms of references.

8. Establish potential links and associations between nominals and offences / offences and offences / nominals and nominals, and illustrate these to inform analytical products that support policing priorities.

9. To attend and inform the client meetings and working groups, where necessary.

10. Represent the area of analysis within the organisation and give presentations to all levels of police and external personnel at both national and international workshops and conferences in order to illustrate the benefits and techniques of intelligence analysis and disseminate best practice, including attendance at cross border conferences to exchange information, good practice and initiatives.

11. To plan, organise and optimise the work of self and others within discrete project assignments within the Intelligence department.

12. To be aware of and comply with legislation and/or policies on Equal Opportunities,


Knowledge/Experience:


Essential:

• Experience of working in a law enforcement environment

• Experience of innovative, creative approaches to problem solving and analysis of complex information

• Effective report writing and confident presentation skills, with proven experience in delivering complex issues to all levels of an organisation

• Ability to use own initiative and possessing good time management skills

• Proven experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel dealing with large datasets


Desirable:

• Experience of problem solving and analysis in a law enforcement and/or intelligence environment

• Previous experience of, or trained in the use of i2, Business Objects, or other analytical software
