Our client is designing and manufacturing cutting-edge edge patient-specific medical devices, including anatomical models, surgical cutting guides and complex custom implants for a variety of clients such as the NHS and leading medical device manufacturers.
Due to their continued growth, they are now looking for a Global Head of Engineering to join their team.
Key responsibilities:
* Management & Leadership of the growing UK and US Engineering Team (including staff welfare, attendance, performance and career progression pathways)
* Implement and identify to management suitable processes to promote company's latest growth (e.g. departmental structure, renumeration, bonus schemes etc)
* Establish and supervise training programmes to induct new engineering staff into the business, recording necessary details to feed into the qualification requirements of the Quality Management System.
* Establish and supervise training programmes to for Level 1/2/3 new engineering staff.
* Quality Management throughout the device design and manufacture workflow – working with the Head of QMS to ensure that processes are monitored, documented and adhered to by all staff.
* Management and scheduling of projects to deliver efficiently, on time and in full.
* Metrics for employee and project performance to measure success and suggest key development opportunities, reporting in regularly to senior management team.
* Continual management of the scheduling, efficiency and working environment of engineers.
* Lead the ongoing recruitment of the growing team. Collaborating with internal/external resources where appropriate. Including technical evaluation of new candidates, recommendations to help objective decision-making throughout the hiring process.
* Lead by example on the design function within the product workflow, including hands-on segmentation and free-form design of patient-specific devices, according to internal QMS procedures.
* An excellent level of technical knowledge related to human anatomy/biomedical engineering, additive manufacturing to lead and mentor the team.
To be considered for the role, you must closely match the following job profile:
* Engineering Degree (Biomedical specialisation preferred).
* At least 5 years’ experience leading a team of engineers in a commercial environment.
* Sector-specific knowledge of the orthopaedic market (preferably in or alongside the design of patient-specific surgical devices).
