Overview
Join to apply for the Consultant in General Anaesthesia role at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
These are a mixture of replacement appointments following expansion of our services and the retirement of existing consultants. The post is for a General Consultant Anaesthetist where special interests in most major sub interests of anaesthesia can usually be accommodated. The James Paget University Hospital, The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn are now working in partnership as the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group.
All future senior medical and dental appointments will be expected to work in collaboration across the Group and, irrespective of initial job description and job plan, be willing to work on more than one hospital site, dependent on service needs. Service location may change as our future models of care are developed by our clinically led networks through our acute clinical strategy. Some of the clinical procedures or services the appointee will be expected to deliver may be based at sites other than their primary site of employment.
Responsibilities
* The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. The appointee will take his/her share of clinical responsibilities within the Department of Anaesthesia. This will include provision for peri-operative assessment clinics where required.
* In addition to duties within subspecialty, the appointee will be required to provide anaesthesia for adult patients in all specialties as appropriate to his/her training and experience.
* There is an on-call commitment of approximately 1:20, providing cover for the emergency on call work. A separate consultant on-call rota exists for paediatric anaesthesia, weekend and bank holiday day trauma theatres, intensive care medicine and obstetric anaesthesia.
* All postholders, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust’s Clinical Governance program. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
