As a result of our expansion plans, and our continued ongoing success we are seeking a dynamic Systems Administrator to be based at our Head Office in Plymouth.
About the Role:
Are you a skilled Linux Systems Administrator with a passion for secure, high-performance infrastructure? We’re looking for a proactive and knowledgeable individual to join our IT team. In this role, you’ll manage and optimise our Linux-based systems (primarily Red Hat / CentOS), support Windows environments, and ensure compliance with security standards like PCI DSS. You’ll also work across hybrid cloud environments, especially AWS, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain a stable and scalable infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
1. Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers in physical and virtual environments
2. Provide support for Windows workstations as needed
3. Monitor system performance, availability, and security
4. Troubleshoot networking issues across the TCP/IP stack
5. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
6. Apply security patches and updates in line with compliance standards
7. Support cloud infrastructure, storage, and networking (AWS)
8. Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures
9. Maintain documentation, change logs, and asset inventories
10. Ensure PCI DSS compliance and participate in incident response
11. Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams
12. Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
13. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience
14. 3–5 years of Linux systems administration (Red Hat / CentOS)
15. Experience with Windows environments
16. Strong networking knowledge (CCNA level or equivalent)
17. Familiarity with AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC)
18. Understanding of PCI DSS and secure system practices
19. Proficiency in shell scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible)
20. Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
21. RHCSA or higher certification
22. CCNA certification or equivalent experience
23. Experience with monitoring tools and configuration management
24. Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
25. Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM)
26. Exposure to security hardening and vulnerability management
