Job Opportunity - Design Engineer / Project Manager (Structures)

Overview
At FISH, we design high‑performance boats and support a diverse portfolio ranging from high‑speed powerboats to military vessels. Following a successful year, we are expanding to support new projects in the UK and worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
* Global and local structural analysis including class scantling and FEA tools.
* Manage and deliver projects alongside day‑to‑day hands‑on work.
* Develop, design and draft structural details of vessels in 2D and 3D CAD.
* Support the production of drawings to marine standards and certification.
* Prepare design drawings, specifications, analysis reports, and technical documentation for internal review, class societies and client submissions.
* Engage in design reviews, meetings and communication with clients and stakeholders.
* Provide technical support during build, assembly, trials, and commissioning; conduct inspections and resolve design‑related issues.
* Assist in the development of design proposals, future concepts, innovation and R&D.
* Produce clear information and drawings for use by yards and class societies.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field.
* Relevant industry experience in a similar role.
* Good understanding of aluminium and composite materials and processes.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software – Rhino 3D or similar.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent communication and technical report writing ability.
* Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
* Eagerness to learn and take initiative in a fast‑paced environment.
* Eligible to work in the UK and willing to travel occasionally.
Desirable Skills (Optional but beneficial)
* Hands‑on practical experience in a boat yard or similar.
* Practical boating experience.
* Hand sketching.
