Overview
At Asda Opticians, our priority is to deliver high‑quality patient care and service. A typical day involves completing eye examinations, contact lens fittings and extended service examinations. You will work alongside our Dispensing Optician Manager to support colleagues with training, coaching and maintaining departmental standards.
Our extended service contracts with the NHS mean we provide a wide range of eye‑care services. We support you to gain any additional accreditation required to deliver these services, and we offer protected training time and funding for further accreditations.
The role is central to shaping the culture of the department and to developing new patient services.
Responsibilities
* Complete eye examinations, contact lens fittings and extended service examinations.
* Support the Dispensing Optician Manager in training, coaching and maintaining departmental standards.
* Deliver NHS‑commissioned eye‑care services and monitor eye conditions as required.
* Supervise students where appropriate, enhancing your own skills and contributing to the development of the next generation of optical professionals.
Qualifications
* Fully qualified optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
* Registered performer with the NHS area team or health board MECs or WECs (or willing to gain accreditation within 12 months of joining, funded and supported by Asda).
* On‑track to meet statutory points requirement for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Evidence of Right to Work in the UK.
* Evidence of NHS performer list and two clinical references; if applying in Wales, evidence of WECs accreditation and WGOS module accreditation.

* Monday: 9:00–6:00pm
* Tuesday: 9:00–6:00pm
* Wednesday: 9:00–6:00pm
* Thursday: 9:00–6:00pm
* Friday: 9:00–6:00pm
