This substantivepost is based at the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and whilst the post offersworking time flexibilities, attendance on-site two days per week is essential
Thepost-holder will lead the Paediatric Neuropsychology Team, which is one offour in the DPP. This consists of two Principal PaediatricNeuropsychologists, one Senior Clinical Psychologist, an Early CareerClinical Psychologist and an Assistant Psychologist. Clinically, your role will involveoversight of referral pathways and access targets, monitoring performance andefficiencies together with the Head of Department and Business Manager. Youwill also afford a wider range of clinical experiences, including face toface assessments, therapy and supervision.
Asa senior member of the Department, your role will contribute to theleadership, management and strategic objective-setting of theDepartment.
Thepost-holder will be joining a well-established, and highly respectedNeurology group.
TheDepartment fully adheres to the BPS position on CPD and values continuouslearning, and you would have the opportunity to join department-wideworkstreams (e.g., parent-notes project, analogue to-digital strategy group).

Main duties of the job
Tolead, manage and provide a qualified Paediatric Neuropsychology service tochildren and young people (CYP) seen in the Regional Paediatric NeurologySpecialty, across all sites and sectors of care by providing highlyspecialist neuro/psychological assessment and therapy.
Linemanage two Principal Paediatric Neuropsychologists, and offer supervision ofother in the team in line with Diploma and QiCN requirements.
Jointhe departmental Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and participate inleading/overseeing departmental strategic and operational objectives.

Person Specification
Qualifications
 * Post graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
 * Professional Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
 * Listed on, or eligible for, entry onto the British Psychological Societys (BPS) Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists.
Experience
 * Experience of specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in-patient
 * experience of providing neuropsychology within an inpatient neurorehabilitation centre is crucial for this post.
 * Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
 * maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
 * Further training in a specialised area of clinical practice through formal post-doctoral training (diploma or equivalent)
 * or a combination of specialist short courses together with an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice
 * Experience selecting, administering and interpreting a wide range of neuropsychological tests to provide neuropsychological assessment within the context of neurological or neurosurgical presentations
 * Experience of professional management of qualified and pre-qualified clinical psychologists in acute health setting/s.
 * Experience of neuropsychological assessment of children and young people.
 * Experience of managing (or exposure to), operational pressures (e.g., access targets, patient prioritisation, and productivity management).
Skills & behaviours
 * Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology.
 * Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, and two or more distinct psychological therapies.
 * Skills in the use of highly complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
 * Knowledge of the neuropsychological profiles associated with a range of neurological, neurosurgical and neuropsychological disorders to provide diagnostic neuropsychological assessment
 * Understand the psychometric principles that underpin cognitive testing. Ability to apply principles of management and rehabilitation to a range of neuropsychological/ neurological disorders
 * A high-level ability to communicate effectively at both a written and oral level, highly complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to patients, their families and carers
