We’re looking for a committed and caring Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Sunderland. This is a setting that supports pupils with autism, social, emotional, and mental health needs—creating an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and able to thrive.
Your role will include:
* Working closely with teachers to deliver personalised support in and out of the classroom
* Supporting pupils with autism and SEMH needs to engage with learning and daily routines
* Encouraging independence, self-confidence, and resilience in every child
* Being a calm, positive role model and helping create a safe, structured environment
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has experience in SEND, SEMH, or youth support (school-based or community)
* Brings patience, empathy, and a real passion for helping children succeed
* Can remain calm under pressure and find positive solutions in challenging moments
* Is open to learning new strategies and approaches

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
