Are you passionate about supporting the local area, and working with families and individuals that have come to live in South Ribble through one of the many resettlement pathways?
We are looking for an Integration and Resettlement Officer to join the Community Development team at South Ribble Borough Council, helping those who have been displaced to build their new safe and happy lives here. This role is about helping them make connections, access local services and navigate their new life here in South Ribble. You will support the delivery of refugee and forced migration resettlement programmes, working within our Community Development team and in close partnership with our Housing Options and Social Prescribing Team.
What you'll be getting up to
* Work with residents who are being settled within South Ribble by supporting them on a 1-1 basis.
* Provide casework support, guidance and advice to residents who have arrived in South Ribble through a government managed forced migration route.
* Promote resilience and independence to ensure that they do not become dependent on support services long-term.
* Work in partnership with a number of internal and external stakeholders and services, ensuring that there are robust, appropriate and sustainable long-term support to households who settle in South Ribble and that the benefits this cohort bring to our local communities.
* Coordinate community-based activities such as drop ins, events and activities and support external organisations in their delivery of services which benefit resettled individuals and families.
* Monitor and evaluate projects and programmes of support delivered through our Community Integration grants and other relevant grant schemes.
Who we're looking for
* Good knowledge of local support services and groups that will help ease the transition for the people you will be supporting, as well as the impact of community integration and asset-based approaches in improving health, skills, and socio-economic prospects.
* Excellent understanding of the different government managed forced migration routes, knowing what support is available to those on each scheme.
* You will have experience of supporting asylum seekers / refugees and / or vulnerable individuals and families.
* Excellent communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) and will ideally be able to speak multiple languages.
Other requirements
* This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
