Behaviour Mentor Location: Newport Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm Pay: Starting from £89.38 per day. Start Date: ASAP A well-regarded secondary school in Newport is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support students who require additional guidance and encouragement in their educational journey. This is a rewarding opportunity to work 1:1 with a pupil who presents challenging behaviour, using sport as a powerful tool for engagement and intervention. Activities may include football, rugby, tennis, and cricket. You’ll be working with pupils aged 11 to 18, helping them build confidence, resilience, and positive routines. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact in education and looking to start or grow a career in pastoral or behavioural support. Key Responsibilities Assist in setting up and organising the classroom alongside the lead teacher Provide tailored support to pupils requiring additional help Engage in classroom and extracurricular activities, including sports, arts & crafts, and educational trips Deliver interventions that help pupils feel safe, supported, and understood Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that enhances the pupil’s school experience Ideal Candidate Attributes Patient and empathetic Caring and approachable Strong time management and organisational skills Passionate about working with young people A background in sport is beneficial but not essential Requirements Enhanced DBS clearance (registered on the update service or willingness to apply) EWC registration (or willingness to apply) Ability to provide two recent references demonstrating professional competence Legal right to work in the UK Safeguarding Level 2 certification (provided free of charge by Teaching Personnel) All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
