ROLE PURPOSE:
The Operations Deputy Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and scalable running of BLOK's Operations function. This position combines strategic thinking and hands-on operational execution, ensuring our sites, teams, and systems are consistently performing at a high level. Working closely with the Operations Lead, this role supports long term strategy delivery while leading the day-to-day operations that make it possible.
The introduction of this new role reflects BLOK's next stage of growth. As we expand our physical footprint and scale our operations, we're strengthening our Operations function with experienced leadership that can elevate site performance, drive operational excellence, and embed scalable systems that enable sustainable growth.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Facilities & Maintenance:
Responsible for the quality, responsiveness, and efficiency of all facilities and maintenance operations across BLOK sites. You build and manage supplier relationships, oversee procurement for new site openings, and ensure issues are resolved swiftly and cost-effectively.
People Leadership:
Leading and inspiring the Operations team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and growth. You coach and develop General Managers to strengthen leadership capability and drive performance across all sites.
Operational Systems & SOPs:
Strengthening and evolving BLOK's operational infrastructure through the creation, implementation, and optimisation of SOPs. You ensure systems are scalable, consistent, and embedded effectively across all sites.
Financial Accountability:
Responsible for operational budgets and cost management. You maintain clear visibility of the P&L line, ensuring costs are tightly controlled and payment processes are managed efficiently.
Customer Experience:
Championing outstanding customer experience across all physical and digital touchpoints. You work with site teams to ensure service quality, brand consistency, and operational excellence.
Deputising for the Operations Lead:
Providing strategic leadership and operational continuity in the absence of the Operations Lead. You represent the Operations function in cross-departmental initiatives and contribute to long term business planning.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
* 5+ years' in multi-site operational leadership roles, within hospitality or fitness industries
* Technical understanding of facilities and maintenance systems and resolution processes
* Proven track record in team leadership, change management, and building strong culture across dispersed teams
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
* Experience using Zendesk, Notion and Mariana Tek
* Background in scale-up or high growth environments
