About Hopespring
Hopespring is a charity providing services and schools for children and young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. We deliver therapeutic education in an award-winning environment, helping children heal from trauma. We specialize in providing therapeutic care, working with a Chartered Psychologist to deliver quality services to children, young people, and their families.
Hopespring operates two Therapeutic Schools and a Residential Family Assessment Centre.
Role: Therapeutic School Teacher
We are seeking individuals to work as Teachers in our Therapeutic Schools. Whether you have previous teaching experience or not, we welcome your application. Successful candidates will have experience working with children and young people with emotional, behavioral, and mental health difficulties. We provide comprehensive training to equip you with the skills needed to deliver effective teaching in our therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Partner with the Centre Lead and senior staff in planning and delivering sessions and programmes, including after-school activities.
2. Learn and implement Hopespring's therapeutic approach to support the holistic development of young people.
3. Plan and deliver lessons, lead small group sessions, and provide 1-1 support.
4. Work closely with senior staff to support young people and act as a link for their families.
5. Assist in team-teaching and session preparation as directed by the Centre Manager.
6. Identify individual development needs and establish Individual Educational Plans.
7. Ensure the suitability of the environment and facilities in line with Health and Safety Policy.
8. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
9. Support school systems and encourage young people to engage fully in their programmes, including extracurricular activities.
10. Tackle issues such as poor behaviour, child protection, substance abuse, and other social issues.
11. Foster relationships with parents or carers and encourage their involvement.
12. Represent Hopespring appropriately in dealings with external agencies and at meetings.
13. Administer records and monitor outcomes as required.
14. Participate in staff training and meetings.
15. Engage in training opportunities to develop classroom practice.
16. Take on additional responsibilities as directed by the Head Teachers.
Essential Skills:

3. Understanding of issues impacting young people's participation in learning and self-improvement.
4. Proven skills and strategies for engaging effectively with young people and their supporters/carers.
5. Experience engaging young people within classroom and out-of-hours school settings.
6. Knowledge of community issues impacting the centre.
7. Effective written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
8. Positive approach to managing young people’s behaviour.
9. Ability to act as a positive role model.
10. Effective time management and ability to organise and prioritise workload.
11. Evidence of effective ICT skills.
12. Ability to work as part of a team and deliver outcomes as directed by senior staff.
