We are seeking experienced Steel Fixers to join a busy production facility in Toomebridge. This hands-on role involves preparing, assembling, and securing steel reinforcement, ensuring all work meets strict quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
* Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine the required placement and configuration of steel reinforcement.
* Assemble and secure reinforcement cages using wire, rebar ties, or tack welding to support concrete structures.
* Ensure steel reinforcement is accurately positioned, maintaining correct spacing and alignment according to design.
* Inspect rebar for defects or deviations from specification, ensuring it is clean, rust-free, and free from contaminants.
* Work closely with supervisors and quality control teams to ensure reinforcement meets project requirements.
* Operate hand and power tools safely while adhering to company and industry safety regulations.
* Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, helmet, and steel-toe boots.
* Collaborate effectively with other trades such as concrete finishers, formwork carpenters, and engineers to ensure smooth production flow.
Skills and Qualifications
* Previous experience as a Steel Fixer or in a similar reinforcement role.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
* Awareness of health and safety practices within a construction or manufacturing environment.
