Job Title: Accommodation Pathway Officer
Location of post: Various across Neath Port Talbot
Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces.
About the role:
We are currently seeking a motivated, organised and compassionate individual to join our team as an Accommodation Pathway Officer.
This role sits within the Homelessness Assessment Prevention & Support Services and plays a vital part in supporting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to access suitable social housing. You will work closely with internal colleagues, Registered Social Landlords and partner agencies to ensure that nominations are managed efficiently, fairly and in line with legislation and local policies and procedures.
As an Accommodation Pathway Officer, you will manage the nominations of homeless households for social housing, ensuring a person-centred approach that matches applicants to appropriate properties and supports positive housing outcomes.
Your daily routine will include:
1. Managing and processing housing nominations in line with policy and legislation.
2. Liaising with Registered Social Landlords and partner agencies regarding property offers and allocations.
3. Maintaining accurate records, data and monitoring information.
4. Supporting clients to understand the nominations process and their housing options.
5. Working closely with colleagues to streamline and improve the nominations process.
6. Handling sensitive and sometimes challenging conversations in a professional and empathetic manner.
About you:
Do you have:
7. Good working knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation.
8. Experience of liaising with Registered Social Landlords and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
9. Experience of prioritising a varied workload and meeting deadlines.
10. Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
11. The ability to work sensitively with vulnerable people and handle confidential information appropriately.
12. Experience of maintaining accurate records and using Microsoft Office applications.
13. Access to suitable transport i.e. driving licence/car is essential. Being able to effectively travel to locations is essential.
Essential qualifications:
14. 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A–C in Maths and English Language
