Our client designsand distributes domestic electrical safety products across Europeand otherterritories.
Thisrole will entail interaction with internal functions at a technicallevel and work with the external CEMs to develop manufacturing andtesting processes for a new range of products as directed by theHead of Manufacturing Engineering.
Theprimary focus being asfollows:
* Deliveryto time cost quality and complianceconstraints.
* Interritory technical support and effective communication with thefactories inChina.
* Implementing DFXinto the NPIprocess.
* Lead productionand test processdevelopment.
* Providesupport to ensure the product cost is understood and in line withrequirements throughout theprocess.
* Implement& monitor robust documentation records relating tomanufacturing readiness processes andrequirements.
Therole consists of 2 primary delivery responsibilities.
1.Development and Specification of Manufacturing and TestingProcesses
Ensure that the launch of all new products and product variationsare effectively managed in territory including DFX/ProductCosting/Process development and technical/generalsupport.
In conjunction with R&D and the factories review and leadthe process for the development of production/test equipment jigsand fixtures including the Production Specification at the earliestpossiblestage.
Support the product sourcing strategy including project managementof products into new manufacturing facilities and reportingprogress or highlighting risks /opportunities.
Support the new product costing process with R&D and thefactories to ensure indicative/actual costs are in line with targetcosts and the product cost is finalised for handover to the SupplyChain.
In conjunction with R&D factories and where applicable endclient review the product designs and provide early feedback onmethods to improve the designs for both ease of manufacturing andto ensure high quality yields.
Work with nominated CEMs and R&D to develop automatedproduction processes to reduce workforce requirements and drivehigh productquality.
Work with strategic suppliers of test equipment in conjunction withthe CEMs to provide efficient testing strategies for all producttypes to recognisable industrystandards.
At the earliest possible stage develop detailed productionspecifications outlining all production assembly operation andproduct tests for each stage ofproduction.
In conjunction with the CEM as necessary provide initial estimatesfor production equipment costs for budget planning along sideimplementation time scales for projectdelivery.
Ensure that all production stages are fully auditable bothinternally and by external certification agencies in partnershipwith the Head ofCertification.
2.CEMSupport
On behalf of R&D Quality and the Supply chain providegeneral onsite support to the factories for existing productsincluding supporting the resolution of quality process ChangeRequests and process yieldissues.
Provide technical support to the factories in the setup ofproduction for the launch of new products ensuring materialprocesses and factory resource availability to achieve the requiredEngineering Prototype Production Prototype and ramp to volume datesat the required quality andcost.
Otherresponsibilities:
Provide input as required to Change Control Board for changes toeither products or production processes for current productranges.
Support 8D production issue meetings asapplicable.
Ensure that processes and ways of working actively promote bestquality ensuring process adherence andimprovement.
Report progress and highlight risks to production and productsupply including identification of opportunities for recovery atthe earliest possible stage to both the Head of Manufacturingand/or the project teams asapplicable.
