Analytical and Synthetic Chemistry (Multiple Roles & Locations) Industrial Placement, UK 2026 at GSK. Roles available in Stevenage and Ware. Expected start date: September 2026. Duration: approximately 1 year. Salary: £25,400 plus a bonus. Workplace: full-time on site.
Roles Available
There are three roles described in this advert. Read each role carefully in the application process and indicate a preference.
* Role 1 – Analytical Chemistry – Ware R&D and Stevenage
Overview: Analytical Development supports analytical chemistry activities for development and control of manufacturing processes. Key learnings include: analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, dissolution, MS, NMR, spectroscopy, Karl Fischer, automated methods), method development, GMP and SOPs, QA documentation, and potential personal project work.
* Role 2 – Physicochemical Analysis – Stevenage
Overview: Physchem supports measurement of physicochemical properties early in discovery. Learnings include solubility, lipophilicity, permeation, pKa, analytical methods (HPLC-UV/MS, LC detectors), automation, data analysis, method development, and collaboration with scientists.
* Role 3 – Synthetic Chemistry – Stevenage
Overview: Synthetic Chemistry supports delivery of molecules in state-of-the-art laboratories. Learnings include performing synthetic reactions, isolation/characterisation of compounds, data generation for project decisions, and supervision by experienced GSK chemists.
Eligibility and Requirements
Education: Undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or similar. You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of the placement. You must be enrolled at a UK or ROI university for the duration of placement. If you have already graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and are pursuing a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible. Language: Fluent in written and spoken English.
Other: Full-time on-site placement; you must be in good standing to start September 2026. You must be a current student and eligible to work in the UK/ROI for the duration of the placement.
