About the Post
We seek to appoint a well-qualified and student-centred lecturer to contribute to the teaching and development of our undergraduate and postgraduate provision in Childhood and Education. We invite applications from candidates holding a PhD with expertise and practice experience in Early Years and Primary Education. The successful candidate will also supervise dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The post offers the opportunity to join a friendly, supportive team in the iconic Waterfront building overlooking the marina at Ipswich's Neptune Quay.
At the University of Suffolk, Childhood and Education courses are delivered through a 'block' or 'intensive' format, where students focus on one module at a time over a period of four or six weeks. We also are a technology-rich course, using innovative hybrid learning and teaching and ethical use of AI.
About the Team
The Childhood and Education team is part of a wider Education and Social Sciences Subject Area that connects research, scholarship, learning and teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate course clusters related to childhood, education, early years and primary practice, sociology, criminology, and international relations. Knowledge exchange, connection to communities locally and globally, and transforming lives through inclusivity and collaboration are at the core of our research as well as student experience.
The subject areas is part of the School of Business, Arts, Social Sciences and Technology that encompasses a wide portfolio of offerings – spanning technology, business, arts, law, social sciences, humanities, and creative industries. The school aspires to integrate arts and creative industries with science and engineering.
Student experience is at the heart of everything we do at the University of Suffolk. We are particularly proud of the individual attention we give our students as they undertake their university journey. The School is founded on the principle that education is for everyone, as a right, and we recognise the value of education to transform lives. Hence, we work collaboratively with students to provide the support they need to thrive in their university life and beyond.
