We are seeking a motivated and reliable Medical Receptionist / Administrator to join our friendly and supportive team at Stepps Surgery. This is a key front-facing role within the practice, providing high-quality administrative and reception support to patients and clinical staff.
Postion is for 17 Hours Per week
This role requires flexibility to provide additional cover during staff holidays and sickness.
You will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a professional, compassionate, and efficient service is delivered at all times.
Key Responsibilities
1. Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
2. Managing a high volume of telephone calls, including appointment bookings and enquiries
3. Using clinical systems (e.g. EMIS/Docman/Vision) to manage appointments, referrals, and correspondence
4. Handling confidential patient information in line with GDPR and NHS policies
5. Supporting clinicians with administrative tasks
6. Managing incoming and outgoing mail, including electronic documents
7. Signposting patients to appropriate services where necessary
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
9. Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
10. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
11. Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, email systems, data entry)
12. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
13. Professional, calm, and empathetic approach to patients
14. Team player with a flexible attitude
Desirable:
15. Previous experience working in a GP practice or NHS setting
16. Knowledge of clinical systems such as EMIS or Docman or Vison
17. Understanding of NHS Scotland services and pathways
18. Experience in a customer service or reception role
