An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support Worker to join our nursing team within Older People and Stroke services at IRH. Ward 3 is a 20-bed unit focusing on orthopaedic rehabilitation and complex discharges. It is essential that the post holder has excellent communication skills and a passion for caring for older adults. Are you a motivated, enthusiastic individual with a “Can Do” attitude?
Older People and Stroke Services can offer:
* The opportunity to work in a friendly, forward-thinking environment dedicated to the healthcare needs of older people.
* A dedicated Clinical Educator to support practice development and education.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting with patient care under the supervision of a trained nurse, including all basic care, reception, admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
2. Ensuring patients receive prescribed care and assistance with fluid and nutritional intake.
3. Observing and reporting changes in patient condition and assisting with documentation.
4. Carrying out minor investigatory procedures such as urinalysis, faecal occult blood testing, and urine collection, reporting findings to the nurse.
5. Assisting patients who are unable to self-care with personal hygiene and dressing, following manual handling policies.
6. Cleaning and tidying clinical areas and equipment, maintaining stock levels, and reporting defects.
7. Safeguarding patient belongings and complying with health and safety policies, including COSHH, fire safety, infection control, and manual handling.
