Portsmouth Water is offering an exciting opportunity for dedicated and skilled Production Operators to join our dynamic team. As a Production Operator, you will play a crucial role in operating, controlling, and monitoring the company's production assets to ensure the continuous delivery of safe, wholesome drinking water to our valued customers. The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing the performance of various water treatment processes. You will work across multiple sites, visiting pumping stations, reservoirs, and water treatment works to monitor and ensure the operability and efficiency of the systems in place. As part of the team, you will be integral to maintaining the high quality and reliability of Portsmouth Water’s service, ensuring that every customer receives clean, safe drinking water every day.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
* Data collection of water quality and asset performance, recording routine activities and work completed.
* Operate and maintain treatment work assets, taking, monitoring, recording and interpreting water samples to ensure treatment processes are working effectively.
* Operate clean water treatment processes, including chemical dosing, coagulation, flocculation, filtration, disinfection, and storage.
* Monitor external activities around our works that may affect water source integrity.
* Valve operations and schematic reading.
* Maintain treatment and disinfection processes, including working with chemicals like chlorine and sulphur dioxide.
* Collaborate with project teams to safely isolate and drain reservoirs and contact tanks for cleaning and inspections.
* Perform basic maintenance, such as changing chlorine gas cylinders and receiving chemical deliveries.
* Assess and optimise energy use on site, conduct safety, security, and productivity checks, and report faults or issues.
* Conduct disinfection of plant, tools, and equipment.
* Carry out routine site maintenance on production assets.
* Manage third-party access to production sites.
* Monitor water processes using control systems like SCADA to identify issues and trends.
* Participate in out-of-hours standby duties.

* Full UK driving license (subject to driver assessment).
