Lead with Care. Grow with Purpose.
We’re looking for a committed and compassionate Assistant Manager to help lead our children’s residential home, supporting young people aged 8–18 with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
This is a role where you’ll combine hands-on care with operational leadership, ensuring the home runs smoothly, the team feels supported, and the children receive the highest standard of care. You’ll work closely with the Registered Manager, stepping up in their absence, and playing a key role in shaping a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.
What You’ll Do
* Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home.
* Lead shifts, manage rotas, and ensure consistent staffing levels.
* Supervise, mentor, and develop the staff team.
* Oversee care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding records.
* Promote a trauma-informed, child-centred culture.
* Maintain compliance with Ofsted regulations and inspection readiness.
* Build strong relationships with external professionals, families, and the local community.
* Provide direct care when needed, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
What We’re Looking For
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* At least 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting.
* Minimum 1 year in a senior or supervisory role.
* Strong safeguarding knowledge and leadership skills.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or willingness to work towards).
* Experience with therapeutic or trauma-informed care models.
* Track record of contributing to “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted outcomes.
Why Join Us?
* Salary up to £38,000 plus £50 per sleep-in.
* 28 days annual leave (FTE).
* Annual salary review.
* Bespoke induction and ongoing training.
* Access to nationally recognised qualifications and CPD.
* Supportive, values-driven team culture.
* Free on-site parking and meals on shift.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and lead with both heart and skill, we’d love to hear from you.
