Overview
ROTATIONAL BAND 6 OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST – Permanent, full time or part time opportunity. An exciting rotational post in acute and community services offering the opportunity to develop clinical knowledge and leadership skills across settings and specialities within a supportive environment.
The rotations include acute stroke, community assessment bed settings, medical, surgical and respiratory wards, alongside orthopaedics. There is a broad range of specialities to experience, with an opportunity to tailor development to progress your career. A developmental pathway from band 5 to 6 is available, requiring a minimum nine-month programme to progress to a senior occupational therapy position.
Main duties of the role: build clinical, managerial and leadership skills within a forward-thinking team, with ongoing training and development opportunities. Job responsibilities
To provide a high standard of occupational therapy provision to patients within the integrated therapies services across community, acute and external organisations as part of the rotation post.
To work as an autonomous practitioner and participate in reflective practice, maintaining and furthering own professional development.
To provide and participate in professional supervision and training for other occupational therapists, students and therapy assistants.
To assist the team lead in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the service provided to patients on a day-to-day basis, providing additional support in the absence of the team lead and to the wider teams as required.
To actively contribute to service improvements to ensure practice is of the highest quality, evidence-based and meets the needs of the local population.
Person Specification
Education & Qualification
* Degree in Occupational Therapy (BSc/MSc) or equivalent
* HCPC registration
Desirable
* Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
* Experience as an occupational therapist within a range of settings
* Documented evidence of Clinical Professional Development, demonstrating transferable skills
* Experience of working as a band/grade 5 occupational therapist in a UK health or social care setting
* Experience of supervising students or staff
Desirable
* Practice Educators Course
* Leadership or management training
Skills & Abilities
Essential
* Advanced knowledge of the application of Occupational Therapy
* Excellent IT skills
* High level written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to undertake a range of manual handling tasks
* Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting and be flexible in practice when required
* Ability to travel to all rural locations to carry out the requirements of the post
