An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our coffee buying team at Taylors of Harrogate as a Green Coffee Technician, following an internal promotion. At Taylors our Coffee Buyers are renowned for scouring the globe in their search for quality coffee and for building long-standing partnerships with coffee producers. We are looking for someone with a passion for coffee who can support them in ensuring that the quality standards and specifications of our green and roasted coffee are maintained. As a Green Coffee Technician, you will taste dozens of coffee samples every day and be responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy coffee tasting room. In addition to learning all about our supply chain from crop to cup, you will also be involved in key operational quality decisions. Other key responsibilities include: Physical analysis of green coffee samples. Roasting green coffee samples to specific roast profiles using Cropster software. Recording and organising cupping, quality, and roasting data on internal systems and Cropster. Sending sample feedback to suppliers. Hosting visitor tastings. Influencing the development and improvement of standards, data recording and operating procedures in the tasting room. This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday (9am to 5pm). The Green Coffee Technician role is based in our coffee tasting room at our offices in Harrogate, where we blend and manufacture our premium range of tea and coffees. It is a hands-on position and therefore hybrid working is not available in this role. You will also be comfortable presenting and hosting tastings for visitors. We’re looking for someone who will be adaptable to a variety of tasks - equally happy to taste a counter of coffees or roast green samples.
