The Anaesthetic Department at the WHH is looking to recruit a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join our team of dedicated clinicians. Providing surgical services for the regional head and neck cancer service, colorectal cancer and other specialties, including gynae, ENT, trauma surgery, breast, paediatrics and ophthalmology. There is also a 24‑hour pPCI cardiology service. We are a regional level 2 trauma unit and have a busy obstetric unit with 4000 deliveries a year. Chronic pain, vascular and urology services are based at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Most elective orthopaedic services are also now provided at the state‑of‑the‑art Elective Orthopaedic Centre in Canterbury and there will be an opportunity to work across more than one hospital site. There is a well‑established pre‑assessment service providing support for all surgical specialties. The hospital has recently built a new 24‑beded intensive care unit, and the emergency department is also undergoing extensive refurbishment. The anaesthetic department is supportive of educational and research opportunities and provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary simulation training across the trust and the region.

The new Kent and Medway Medical School offers an opportunity to be involved in undergraduate education locally. There are departmental monthly audit/educational half days, free from clinical commitment and a well‑established weekly education half day for trainees, led by consultant staff.

Our department is a sociable, friendly and supportive team. We have excellent administrative support and a large communal office. This is a 10PA post which includes 2 SPAs. Job plans within the Anaesthetic Department at William Harvey Hospital are flexible and can be honed to reflect the particular skills and experience of the applicant. Many specialist clinical interests can be supported, either within William Harvey Hospital or across the trust.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant.
