Overview
As a Customer Delivery Driver for Tesco you’ll be the face of Tesco on the road, delivering groceries and providing great service to customers in their homes. It’s about more than just driving: it’s about helping others and delivering a smile.
It’s hands-on, physical and full of variety. No two shifts are the same, and there’s always a team of Managers and colleagues back at base ready to support you when you need them. Tesco welcomes applicants seeking flexibility, job stability or a change of career direction.
Availability is managed around store needs. New colleagues typically have a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with opportunities to work fewer hours (down to 12) if requested. The availability windows shown will guide when we’d like you to be available; contracted hours are scheduled with three weeks’ notice. If your availability closely matches but isn’t exact to the advertised times, we’d still love to hear from you.
Pay
Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 per hour; this increases to £14.56 per hour for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

You will be responsible for
* Delivering your part of our customer shopping trip by ensuring the van and trays are clean and tidy/organised
* Leaving the back yard clean, tidy and free of rubbish, and picking up litter as you see it
* Ensuring trays are washed as part of the tray wash process
* Loading the van and checking the van is roadworthy
* Talking to the customer about any changes to their order, including substitutions, offering refunds where appropriate
* Taking care of products/deliveries as if they were your own
* Being clear to customers that substitutions will not be charged extra
* Delivering within the customer’s time slot
* Calling the customer before arriving at their property if you are early
* Calling the store/centre if you are running 30 minutes or more late
You will need
* Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit
* Warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues
* Act quickly to respond to changing needs and embrace change within the store
* Energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations
* Share ideas with your Manager and other colleagues on how to improve the store
* A valid UK/EU/EEA Driving licence (Full or Automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points
