As Chief Development Engineer you will develop new and existing tooling, materials and improve current processes, ensuring work is carried out effectively, efficiently and to the Company and Customer standards at all times. You will also lead the development team to meet the business objectives for innovation, product development and future technical advancements. You will be responsible for Development Engineers regarding day to day allocation of work Responsibilities • Blowmould Development Coordinator in quoting & communicating progress on all new bottle enquiries, liaising with Sales, R&D team and the Drawing office as required. • Develop all new tooling and specs to production standards, liaising with sales, tool room, drawing office, planning, BM stores and outside contractors. • Regularly update computer system of all new specs and any other changes. • Troubleshoot any production problems. • Develop new blowmoulding techniques as and when required. • Design and develop any ancillary equipment required on new developments. • Process and analyse all new grades of material incorporating drop tests and product compatibility. • Assist in training of all Blowmould staff. • Service all ancillary equipment to ensure smooth running of the production department. • Ensure all Health and Safety aspects are followed and adhered to at all times. • Continually work to improve procedures within the department. • Any other reasonable management instruction • To assist in efficiently and effectively developing all company and customer moulds, ensuring that all associated documents are updated and closed off on completion of individual projects Experience Clear and proven competence of working in an engineering environment The ability to work on ones own initiative to achieve objectives and taking responsibility for work/actions undertaken The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and at all levels within the Company and with customers Confident in challenging existing practices and looking for continuous improvement in all areas of work Is able to work as part of a team to achieve team objectives Able to respond positively to changing work demands Takes decisive action to address and react to opportunities and problems in day to day work Is conscientious and thorough in all aspects of work responsibilities, and has a professional approach to work Has a logical and methodical approach to problem solving/fault finding issues Ability to listen, and take up new skills Desire to give a good service, recognising the importance of customer satisfaction on their own work Able to follow instruction, to ensure work is completed as required Ability to undertake duties in every respect as laid out in the job description (further to training if required).
