Overview
Speech and Language Therapist required at Brookthorpe Hall School, Gloucestershire. Join our in-house clinical team and work collaboratively with the education team to deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will hold a SLT caseload with supervision and contribute to staff training, within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working.

Brookthorpe Hall School – Gloucestershire, Brookthorpe Hall. School forms part of our Options Autism brand, and is an independent specialist day school for children and young people aged 7-16.
Role and Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention within an education setting.
* Work collaboratively with the education team and maintain a person-centred, empowering approach.
* Hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with the support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Adhere to the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and relevant professional standards.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registered; 1-2 years' experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting; experience with complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Some knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
* Experience of multidisciplinary working in a range of settings.
* Experience communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers.
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SLT practice.
* Good relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills; good oral and written communication; good time management and organisational skills.
* Competent in core areas of SLT practice with understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of SLT assessment tools, intervention types, and ability to formulate support plans based on needs profiles.
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management regarding the client group.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication.
* Understanding of arousal levels and their relationship to communication.
* Full driving licence and access to a car (highly desirable).
Hours and Contract
* 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with hours to overlap with core school hours. Part-time hours may be considered.
* Permanent contract (term-time only) or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances.
Salary and Benefits
* Salary up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience). Basic grade SALT offers from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+, Highly Specialist from £48,000+.
* £2,000 training allowance for role-specific CPD after probation.
