JOB DESCRIPTION
GMB North-East, Yorkshire & Humber Region is seeking applications for the role of Regional Education Health & Safety Research Officer.
This is a key position within the region, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading on health and safety matters, coordinating our education programmes, and delivering research work that supports the wider objectives of the union.
The successful candidate will be working from Newcastle or Wakefield, but candidates should be aware that they may be required to work from any location within the NEYH Region at the discretion of the Regional Secretary, in order to meet the needs of the region.
Applicants must have a proven record of the following:
1. A professional Health & Safety qualification (IOSH or equivalent)
2. Experience in education programme design and delivery
3. A solid understanding of GMB’s values and the wider trade union movement
4. Confidence working with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulators
5. Strong organisational, communication and budgeting skills
6. Experience developing campaigns, managing projects, and supporting lay activists
7. You’ll be leading regional initiatives across health and safety, education, and research—playing a vital part in growing and supporting our membership.

8. The hours of work for the role are unspecified and the role involves some travel and unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends.
9. The successful candidate will be allocated a fleet car as there will be a need for travel to other offices and workplaces across the Region, so prospective candidates are required to be in possession of a full current driving licence.
