About the role
Dorset Council is mid‑transformation. Our Future Council is the programme reshaping how we work, and phase two is where things get more complex. We’re recruiting an experienced HR Change Lead to help ensure change is handled well, with people at the heart of our approach. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the organisation to deliver high‑quality, people‑centred change and contribute to complex, organisation‑wide programmes, leading on the people change management issues. This role is at the heart of organisational change, ideal for someone with strong change‑management experience and a people‑focused approach who can make an immediate impact.
What you’ll be doing
As HR Change Lead, you will play a central role, leading people‑focused change that helps the organisation move forward with confidence. You’ll lead and deliver wider people change activity, including restructures, partnering with senior leaders and HR Business Partners to provide trusted strategic and operational advice. Working collaboratively with OD and Change colleagues is key to delivering joined‑up, effective solutions that flex and tailor to a range of change settings. You’ll support and guide managers through change, ensuring strong governance throughout and play a key part in developing positive and constructive relationships with recognised Trade Unions.
What we’re looking for
We need someone who brings clarity, calm, and confidence to complex change. You’ll have a CIPD qualification or equivalent experience, up‑to‑date knowledge of employment law and change‑management best practice, and experience leading on complex employee relations and organisational change. Your strong judgement and ability to influence and build trust at all levels will be evident through your professional experience. You must have a collaborative, adaptable mindset and the ability to work at pace.
What’s in it for you
This role offers variety and visibility across the whole council. You’ll be leading change affecting different services, building experience that is hard to replicate elsewhere. You’ll work with experienced colleagues, with access to development and learning opportunities throughout. Because this is a live transformation programme with real decisions being made, the work you do will have a direct impact – not just on processes, but on the people going through them. We work in a hybrid way, coming into the office when the work needs it.
Further Information
This is a fixed‑term role for 12 months from the start date; it is full time at 37 hours.
We welcome applications from everyone and are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. If you declare a disability and meet the essential criteria for the role, we will offer you an interview and an accessible recruitment process.
