Overview
Order Selector/Picker - Produce Warehouse role at Food City / KVAT Foods Inc. This position is located in the Produce Warehouse and involves selecting, stacking, wrapping, and shipping orders. The Produce Warehouse includes products with strict temperature requirements. General warehouse duties occur within the assigned area, but the position supports all areas of warehouse operations as needed. Starting pay is $19.85/hr, plus incentive pay.

Responsibilities
* Selects/obtains appropriate equipment.
* Obtains assignments utilizing automated voice recognition computer system.
* Stacks products on pallets according to specifications to maximize cube utilization with minimal damage.
* Secures pallets with plastic wrap for shipment to stores.
* Maintains production percentage based on engineered labor standards.
* Completes necessary paperwork, as required.
* Positions pallets properly on trailers.
* Provides efficient and courteous customer service to store locations in support of the company mission to "Run the Best Store in Town!"
* Attends on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.
Additional job functions
* Assist on the dock with proper loading of trucks.
* Sanitation tasks.
* Stock slots.
* Operate forklift, if certified, as needed.
* Ensure pallet jack is placed on charger at end of shift.
* Occasional yard work.
* Understand and follow confidentiality policy regarding company and personnel information.
* Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor or Company Executive Official.
* Utilize time management and prioritization to accomplish tasks with management and associates.
* Follow all safety and security measures and guidelines.

* Electric-powered Pallet Jack
* Forklift, if certified
* Sanitation equipment (Sweeper, Floor Scrubber)
* Fire Extinguisher
Communication requirement
* Ability to use intercom to relay information to Forklift Operators regarding empty slots.
* Ability to receive and complete work assignments via wired or Bluetooth headset communication.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Working conditions
* Concrete floors in a warehouse environment with typical noise, lighting, dust, and physical demands.
* Refrigerated warehouse with varying temperature ranges; cold and damp conditions.
* Slick floors due to cold temperatures and commodities.
* Normal smoke-free warehouse environment with adequate lighting and ventilation.
* Normal temperature with occasional refrigerated cooler conditions and outdoor temperatures.
Safety requirements
* Overhead stacking may be difficult; observe proper lifting techniques.
* Operate equipment in congested areas safely.
* Maintain footing on slick floors.
* Understand battery changing and charging procedures.
* Use of equipment requires caution; follow proper operating procedures and safety guidelines.
* Monitor fire extinguisher location and charge levels.
* Follow policy on keeping electrical panels and emergency exits clear.
* Adhere to ice/snow removal guidelines and wet floor signs during inclement weather or spills.
Work locations
* This position is in the Produce Warehouse; may travel to meeting locations as needed by supervision.
Work schedule
* Rotating schedules, mostly on second shift (4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.), with four ten-hour days.
* Overtime availability required.
* Payroll week runs Monday through Sunday; hours set by Warehouse Manager according to work volume.
Physical demands
* Repetitive lifting, bending, and stooping as required to stack products on pallets.
* Repetitive mounting/dismounting of electric-powered pallet jack equipment.
* Lift up to 60 lbs. from floor to chest-high level.
* Walk on concrete floors up to 10 hours a day.
* Work in cold and damp environments.
* Meet standard physical demands including bending, stooping, reaching, and pulling.
* Repetitive hand actions such as grasping.
Visual and mental demands
* See under normal lighting; read small print and case dating codes.
* Read and understand procedures and safety information.
* View computer screens and product labels; understand date codes.
* Remain alert for safety; maintain concentration for accuracy and speed; handle fast-paced environment.
* Read and follow verbal and/or written instructions; perform routine tasks with daily interaction with many people.
Qualifications
* Must be 18 years of age or older.
* Previous warehouse experience preferred.
* Ability to read, write, and perform basic math; follow instructions.
* Good physical condition and stamina.
* Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours and extra time as needed.
