Are you looking for a career in Engineering working for a company who will provide you with hands on experience in fitting and assembly/ CNC machining as well as attending college for a national certificate.\n\nWe are offering an accredited training programme in the form of an Advanced Engineering course in Mechanical engineering and are looking to recruit one candidate to join our team in 2026. \n\nAt our busy manufacturing facility site in Tranent we host numerous departments including fabrication and sheet metal, machining, auto machining, pipe fitting, lifting & testing and shipping. \nOur machine shop itself offers a versatile set of skills across CNC and manual milling lathes, turning and drilling.\n Working as part of a team and alongside qualified tradespeople you will start to develop your hand skills and knowledge in Engineering, covering a range of skills including fitting and assembly/ machining. Although workshop based you will be expected to work at other sites that George Brown are involved with.\n\nAs an Apprentice, youâll attain base engineering skills in the form of a SVQ Level 2 and 3, meta skills and a National Certificate. Over a period of 3 to 4 years you will mix attending college and working in a manufacturing environment gaining hands on experience. Skills youâll develop include: \n-\tThe ability to understand and work to technical drawings\n-\tSetting and controlling CNC and Manual milling lathes \n-\tTurning and Milling \n-\tMechanical fitting and assembly \n-\tAn understanding of Quality Management\n-\tRespect and adherence of Health & Safety policies \n â¢\tA minimum of National 4 or 5 qualification in Maths, English and a Science subject.\nâ¢\tLots of enthusiasm and self-motivated\nâ¢\tExcellent communication skills\nâ¢\tGood problem-solving skills \n
