COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR

We are partnering exclusively with a high-growth, premium UK business operating within the construction, architectural products and interior solutions sector.
With a strong reputation, established customer relationships and significant growth potential, the business is seeking an experienced Commercial Director to lead the next phase of expansion and build a scalable, high-performing commercial function.
This is a strategic leadership role with responsibility for driving revenue, improving commercial performance and positioning the business for long-term growth, investment or future exit.
The Role
Reporting to the Board, you will lead the commercial strategy across specification sales, trade channels, key accounts and commercial development.
You will be responsible for:
• Driving revenue and margin growth across specification-led and trade sales channels
• Developing relationships with architects, designers, contractors, developers and distribution partners
• Embedding CRM, pipeline management and forecasting discipline across the commercial function
• Leading and developing sales, business development, key account and marketing teams
• Identifying new markets, sectors and growth opportunities
• Contributing to pricing strategy, product positioning and commercial planning
• Supporting the business through its next stage of scale, investment readiness and value creation
The Candidate
We are looking for a commercially driven leader with a proven track record of delivering growth within construction-related sectors.
You will bring:
• Significant leadership experience within construction products, architectural products, building materials, fit-out, interiors or specification-led environments
• Strong understanding of project-led and specification sales processes
• Experience selling through architects, contractors, developers, merchants, distributors or trade networks
• A data-led approach to forecasting, pipeline management and commercial performance
• Experience leading multi-functional commercial teams and driving accountability
• Strong commercial acumen with exposure to pricing, margin improvement and strategic growth initiatives
Please note: this role requires a background in construction, specification sales, architectural products, interiors, fit-out or related trade sectors. Candidates whose experience is primarily retail, FMCG, consumer goods or e-commerce are unlikely to be suitable.
