ASW Mental Health Social Worker – WCR 3
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Social Worker to join our team as an ASW (Approved Social Worker) at WCR 3 level. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing mental health challenges by providing expert assessment, support, and advocacy within a multidisciplinary setting.
As an ASW Mental Health Social Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, rights, and wellbeing of service users, working closely with colleagues, families, and external agencies to deliver high‑quality care and intervention.
Key Objectives
* Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments under the Mental Health Act.
* Provide expert social work input to care planning and risk management.
* Advocate for the rights and needs of service users and their families.
* Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and partner organisations.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines.
Responsibilities
* Carry out statutory assessments and make informed recommendations under the Mental Health Act.
* Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in partnership with service users and carers.
* Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing acute mental health episodes.
* Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and professional supervision.
* Promote social inclusion and recovery‑focused approaches in all aspects of work.
* Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to team learning.
Requirements
* Qualified and registered Social Worker with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Approved Social Worker (ASW) status or willingness to undertake ASW training.
* Proven experience in adult mental health social work, preferably within statutory services.
* Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act and related legislation.
* Excellent communication, assessment, and analytical skills.
* Ability to manage complex caseloads and work independently.
* Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Qualifications
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent professional qualification.
* HCPC registration as a Social Worker.
* ASW qualification or commitment to complete ASW training within agreed timeframe.
