NSB Recruitment has an interesting and purpose-driven role for an Environmental and Social (E&S) Consultant, where you will be supporting key projects in E&S and HSE obligations.
My client specializes in delivering turnkey infrastructure solutions in healthcare, digital, and government administration sectors across Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Their active projects are in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Indonesia.
Our client’s project stakeholders include government clients, Equator lenders, Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), regulators, and local communities and users of the projects.
They are a global team working seamlessly with their French headquarters and regional offices throughout all project lifecycle stages—from pre-sale to pre-construction, construction, and operation.
You will play a key role in procurement and review of all E&S deliverables across project phases, including Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Environmental and Social Management and Monitoring Plans (ESMPs), Stakeholder Engagement Plans (SEPs), Stakeholder Engagement (SE), and E&S Monitoring, ensuring compliance with international IFI and national standards during construction and operation.
Location: London, 2/3 days per week, flexible home working.
Your roles and responsibilities include:
1. Working closely with all business groups (pre-sales, design, construction, operation) during E&S requirement management based on project stage.
2. Managing E&S contractors across all project phases.
3. Contributing to the preparation of RFPs for E&S deliverables meeting international lenders and IFC standards, along with national E&S requirements.
4. Assisting with the preparation and review of external E&S consultants’ contracts in collaboration with procurement.
5. Supporting E&S contractor management, including purchase orders, invoices, and payments with the finance department.
6. Participating in managing E&S contractors during the preparation of deliverables to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
7. Preparing ESIA, ESMP, SEP, RAP, LRP, SE, etc.
8. Monitoring and reporting E&S performance during construction and operation phases.
9. Interfacing with national and regional E&S regulators and agencies at all project stages.
10. Managing and reviewing E&S deliverables for environmental permits and certifications.
11. Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and 14001 standards.
Skills & Qualifications
* Excellent verbal and written skills in both English and French, including technical review.
* Minimum 2-5 years of consultancy experience in E&S sustainability projects.
* A degree in environmental science, engineering, or related fields; membership in a relevant ESIA or HSE professional institute is highly desirable.
* Understanding of E&S processes throughout the project lifecycle.
* Familiarity with E&S regulatory systems and permitting in West Africa and Indonesia is a plus.
* Knowledge of the Equator Principles, World Bank’s EHS Guidelines, IFC’s Performance Standards, and OECD approaches.
* Willingness to travel internationally to project sites at key milestones.
