Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Allergy and Clinical Immunology service at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources.
Main duties
 * The post holder is responsible for providing administrative support, appointment booking and waiting list management for the Medicine Division (including outpatient consultant-led appointments and nurse-led appointments) at North Bristol Trust.
 * They cover day to day management and resolution of clinic bookings which require face to face and telephone contact with patients, clinicians, nurses and administrative staff.
 * The post holder delivers a high quality administration service, ensuring that patients’ pathways reflect the requests of the clinical team.
Essential criteria – Education / Training / Qualifications
 * Good level of general education, grade C or above in English Language and Maths GCSE equivalent.
 * Confident in use of Microsoft applications.
Essential criteria – Work Experience
 * Experience of working within a team.
 * Experience of dealing with professionals and members of the public.
 * Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
 * Understanding of data confidentiality procedures.
Essential criteria – Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
 * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable criteria
 * Experience of working within the NHS or a large organisation of similar size and volume of work.
 * Knowledge and understanding of Government and Local Targets.
 * Previous experience of managing a waiting list.
Personal Qualities / Special Circumstances
 * Prioritising unpredictable workload.
 * Good oral and written skills.
 * Ability to work proactively, in an organised manner using own initiative with a problem solving attitude.
 * Willingness to learn and share knowledge with colleagues.
 * Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
