Overview
Squarcle City Of Bristol, England, United Kingdom
The power of Data Science and AI is only as good as the problems it solves. Your purpose is to help build and scale Squarcle’s Data Science capability. You’ll help shape cutting-edge internal products within our AI Labs, and you’ll be delivering high-impact AI solutions for clients across complex industries like defence, construction, and nuclear.
What you’ll do
As a Data Science Consultant within our Digital capability you’ll be joining us as we build momentum. This means there’s room for people to shape how we grow, not just keep up with it. Some of your key day to day activities will include:
* While on engagement you will work closely with customers to understand their challenges and translate these into clear, actionable tasks
* You’ll design and deliver data science solutions, regularly reporting back to the customer to make sure it meets their requirements and aligns to their expectations
* Work collaboratively with other data experts and domain specialists to share knowledge, develop best practices, and align technology with business objectives
* Often, you’ll be developing and/or deploying solutions in customer infrastructure which may have strict security controls
* When not on engagement, you’ll contribute to internal innovation efforts including helping us build our AI Labs capability and support business development through technical input to assist us in winning new engagements
The skills you’ll need to succeed
* Advanced Python skills: essential for day-to-day development across our projects
* Hands-on machine learning experience: including techniques such as classification, clustering, and deep learning
* Cloud development experience: ideally with Azure, but AWS or GCP also valuable
* Strong version control practices: confident using Git, with experience in collaborative workflows like pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab/GitHub)
* Data storytelling and visualisation: ability to translate data into insight using tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, or dashboarding platforms like Power BI or Tableau
How we’ll assess your skills
Our interview process for this role will involve three steps:
* Step 1: Meet with our Recruitment Manager, Corina. She’ll introduce you to Squarcle, the role, and answer any questions you may have about us. We’ll be assessing some basic skills for the role and finding out more about your background.
* Step 2: Meet with our Senior Manager – Data Science, Jade and Senior Advisor for AI, Rob. They’ll deep dive into the role and your capabilities.
What we offer
* 26 days of annual leave (including your birthday!) plus UK bank holidays — increasing to 27 days after three years, and 28 after seven years
* You’ll also get five extra days for your five and 10 year anniversaries
* Additional leave for members of the Reserve Forces and CFAV.
* Private medical insurance (provided once you’ve completed your probation).
* Performance related awards
* Milestone and life-event hampers to celebrate life’s big moments
* Funding for qualifications that benefit both you and the business
* Cycle to work scheme
* Discounted travel through funded railcards
* Pension - our pension provider is NOW Pensions, pension contributions are 3% employer and 5% employee
We review our benefits regularly to ensure they stay competitive and meaningful - so this list may evolve as we grow.
Our working hours are 8:30am – 5:30pm (with an hour for lunch), Monday – Friday.
