Families First Communication & Engagement Officer

Children’s Services
37 hours per week | 09:00 – 17:00
Hybrid working – 2–3 days per week on site

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Communication & Engagement Officer to join our Families First team. This is a key role focused on developing and delivering engaging, inclusive communications that connect families, children, and young people with the support and services available to them.

You will lead on outreach and engagement activity, working closely with communities and partner organisations to ensure that the voices of families and young people are heard, valued, and reflected in service design and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and deliver engaging communications that promote Families First services to families, young people, and community partners

* Create accessible and inclusive content across digital, print, and social media platforms

* Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders including schools, VCSE organisations, health services, police, youth groups, and community networks

* Coordinate community engagement activities such as events, workshops, and campaigns to gather feedback and strengthen connections

* Capture and amplify the lived experiences of families and young people, using creative engagement methods to inform service development

* Support internal communications to ensure consistent messaging and collaborative working across teams

* Monitor and evaluate engagement activity, using data and feedback to improve impact and report outcomes

* Champion inclusive communication practices, ensuring materials are culturally sensitive and accessible to diverse audiences

* Collaborate with service leads and delivery partners to align communications with programme priorities

* Contribute to strategic planning, bringing community insight to shape future outreach and service delivery

About You

You will have:

* Experience in communications, engagement, or community‑focused roles

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* A commitment to inclusion, participation, and children‑centred practice

* Confidence working with a wide range of partners and communities

* Creativity, organisation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Working Pattern

* 37 hours per week

* Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00

* Hybrid working – 2 to 3 days per week on site
