Primary Class Teacher – Burgess Hill, West Sussex
Contract: PermanentStart Date: September 2026Hours: Part time - 3 days per week
About the Role
We are seeking a committed, resilient, and nurturing Primary Class Teacher to join our APC (Alternative Provision Centre) on a permanent basis from September 2026. This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and understands the importance of strong relationships, consistency, and high expectations.
You will work with small class sizes, delivering a creative and flexible curriculum that meets the academic, emotional, and social needs of pupils who require additional support.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality teaching across the primary curriculum within an APC setting
* Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
* Use positive behaviour strategies to create a safe and structured learning environment
* Plan lessons that are engaging, differentiated, and accessible
* Track pupil progress and adapt provision accordingly
* Work closely with support staff, families, and external professionals
* Contribute to reintegration or personalised learning pathways where appropriate
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience of working with pupils displaying challenging behaviour (AP, SEMH, SEND, or similar settings)
* Strong behaviour management skills rooted in empathy and consistency
* A calm, patient, and reflective approach
* High expectations for pupil progress and behaviour
* Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
* ECTs with relevant experience or placements are welcome to apply
