Job Description
Prospero Teaching is seeking a supportive, positive, and encouraging Tutor to work with a young person transitioning into Year 8, who has an EHCP and a diagnosis of ASD and Anxiety. This student finds the traditional classroom environment overwhelming and has experienced significant gaps in their education. The successful Tutor will deliver engaging and well-paced Maths and English sessions and provide transport to and from sessions at a local library in Portsmouth.
About the Student:
* Enjoys card games, especially Uno, and has a strong interest in Maths and numbers.
* Has a fantastic imagination but finds writing challenging.
* May appear shy at first, but once comfortable, is chatty with a great sense of humour
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working with children with ASD and Anxiety.
* A nurturing and patient approach to learning.
* A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Ability to create a safe, structured, and fun learning environment.
As a n SEN Tutor you will:
* Deliver engaging and well-paced Maths and English sessions tailored to the student's interests and needs.
* Provide transport to and from sessions at a local library in Portsmouth.
* Build a trusting relationship with the student, encouraging confidence and creativity
About you:
* Experience working with children with ASD or similar needs
* Understanding of EHCPs and how to implement them
* Patience, empathy, and a child-centred approach
* Ability to support learning through engaging, interest-led activities

* Hold right to work in the UK
* Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
* Provide references upon request
* Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
