Band 3 Security / Car Parking Assistant
Location: Ulster Hospital
Salary: £ per hour
Hours: hours per week
Shift Pattern:
1. 06:00 - 14:00
2. 14:00 - 22:00
3. 22:00 - 06:00
(Rotas issued two weeks in advance)
Job Purpose
The post holder will deliver an effective, professional, and customer-focused Security Service across the Ulster Hospital site. The role includes Security, Car Parking, and Portering duties, ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, and Trust property in accordance with HSC Core Values and Behaviours, Trust policies, and relevant legislation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
4. Provide a visible security presence to protect people, property, and Trust assets
5. Patrol internal and external areas of the site on foot and by vehicle
6. Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents, alarms, and emergency situations
7. Support clinical staff during incidents involving aggression, mental health assessments, and patient safety concerns
8. Assist in the prevention, detection, and reporting of crime, theft, and loss
9. Liaise with PSNI and other emergency services when required
10. Operate CCTV systems in accordance with training, legislation, and ICO Codes of Practice
11. Provide staff safety escorts when required
12. Support car parking operations, including traffic flow management and enforcement of parking arrangements
13. Report hazards, obstructions, faults, and damage through appropriate Trust channels
14. Maintain accurate logs, records, and incident reports
15. Handle and transport confidential waste and assist with the secure movement of cash
16. Support portering services during periods of increased demand
17. Participate in Major Incident responses in line with the Trust's Major Incident Plan
18. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, PPE requirements, and Trust policies
19. Maintain a professional appearance in line with the Support Services Uniform Policy
Essential Criteria
Experience
20. Minimum of two years' experience in a security role
Driving
21. Hold a current full UK driving licence valid for manual transmission vehicles
(This requirement may be waived for applicants whose disability prevents driving, subject to Trust-approved alternative transport arrangements)
Additional Information
22. Successful applicants may be required to apply for an Access NI Certificate via Staffline, even if already held
23. Disclosure costs range from £16-£32, depending on clearance level
24. The post holder will be required to work across all shift patterns as outlined
