About the role:
As an Electrical / E&C Systems Engineer within our Mid-Level Talent Pool, you'll take ownership of key electrical and electronic systems across complex machinery. This role blends hands-on engineering with system-level thinking, giving you the opportunity to define architectures, collaborate across disciplines, and deliver robust, high-performing solutions.
You'll play a pivotal role in shaping machine functionality, ensuring systems meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements while supporting delivery to programme targets.
What does this role involve day to day?
Electrical system ownership
1. Take ownership of specific electrical/electronic systems such as machine control, power distribution, HMI, lighting, and safety systems
2. Define and develop electrical architectures, including ECU allocation, CAN network layouts, and sensor/actuator integration
3. Ensure designs meet functional, environmental, and reliability requirements
Control systems & integration
4. Collaborate with software and controls teams to define and implement effective control strategies
5. Ensure seamless interaction between ECUs, embedded software, and machine-level functionality
6. Integrate and validate CAN-based communication and diagnostic systems
Requirements & documentation
7. Capture, manage, and maintain traceability of system requirements throughout the V-cycle
8. Develop key documentation, including electrical specifications, interface definitions (CAN signals, I/O mapping), and diagnostic strategies
Validation & testing
9. Define and execute validation plans (DVP&R) for electrical systems
10. Support and lead rig testing, machine-level testing, and field validation activities
11. Use CAN tools to verify system behaviour and diagnose issues
Fault finding & issue resolution
12. Lead structured, system-level fault investigations
13. Analyse CAN data, logs, and machine performance to identify root causes
14. Drive corrective actions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Programme delivery
15. Support delivery of systems in line with timing, cost, and quality targets
16. Contribute to design reviews, gateway processes, and change control
17. Work closely with suppliers on components such as ECUs, sensors, and wiring harnesses
This will be suited to you if…
18. You hold a degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering (or similar)
19. You have at least 2 years’ experience within off-highway, automotive, or mobile machinery environments
20. You have a strong understanding of electrical architectures (12V/24V systems), CAN/J1939 communication, and control system fundamentals
21. You are confident in system integration, machine testing, and electrical fault finding
You’ll stand out if you also have:
22. Experience with tools such as CANalyzer, CANape, or other Vector tools
23. Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 13849 / ISO 26262)
24. Understanding of wiring harness design and EMC considerations
In terms of how you work, you:
25. Take ownership and accountability for your systems or features
26. Are comfortable working both hands-on with machinery and in a desk-based engineering environment
27. Communicate effectively across disciplines including software, mechanical, and hydraulics teams
28. Apply a structured, data-driven approach to problem solving
29. Are pragmatic, proactive, and focused on delivering results
