Technical Architect (SC Cleared)
6-month initial Contract

£600–£650/day (Inside IR35)

We’re supporting a large central government organisation in hiring an experienced Technical Architect to join a significant digital transformation programme. This role sits within a senior architecture function and will focus on application, integration, and data architecture across a complex multi-cloud environment.
This opportunity is ideal for architects who are strong across application design, API/integration patterns, and large-scale enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
As the Technical Architect, you will:
* Lead architecture across complex application and integration domains
* Define and communicate end-to-end architectural designs for distributed systems
* Design API architectures, integration patterns, service boundaries and system interactions
* Work within a cloud-first environment (primarily AWS, with some Azure components)
* Produce architectural artefacts: HLDs, solution options, architecture models and roadmaps
* Support supplier assessments and contribute to procurement activity
* Engage with senior stakeholders and architecture review boards
* Ensure alignment with governance, security and organisational standards
* Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary digital delivery teams
Required Experience
You should be able to demonstrate:
* Strong background in Application Architecture, Integration Architecture, or Data Architecture
* Experience designing APIs, integrations, microservices, message/event-driven systems
* Previous work on large-scale digital programmes, ideally in the public sector
* Proficiency in architecture modelling (C4, UML, ArchiMate or equivalent)
* Ability to present complex technical ideas clearly to non-technical audiences
* Hands-on understanding of AWS; Azure familiarity beneficial
* Knowledge of data flows, modelling, and governance principles
* Experience supporting procurement or vendor evaluation processes
* Valid SC Clearance (active preferred; recently lapsed also considered)
