Overview

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Consultant Hand Therapist to lead and shape a high-performing service within a busy, diverse acute hospital. This new Band 8c role is your chance to drive innovation, champion clinical excellence, and influence the future of hand therapy for complex trauma patients.

You will lead a talented team managing acute hand injuries, collaborating closely with surgical, ED, and therapy colleagues. Alongside delivering advanced clinical care, you will guide service development, research, and workforce growth.

We're looking for someone with proven leadership in hand therapy, a strong record of treating complex trauma, and a passion for driving change. Whether you're stepping up or already operating at this level, we'll support your development in a Trust that values ambition and new ideas.

Join us in making a positive impact on patients across three diverse London boroughs. This is a patient facing role.

We operate from two main sites - King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queen1s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 330,000 people visiting them last year. We1e campaign to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen1s and get rid of corridor care. Our patients are benefitting from our Women1s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George1s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 94,000 scans a year.

We1e the majority of our 8,000 staff who come from 146 different countries and are from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted-accredited apprenticeship programmes. We1re proud to be a London Living Wage employer. Responsibilities

* Provide highly specialist assessment, treatment and advice to patients within your area of speciality.
* Offer highly specialist guidance and advice to other members of the Multidisciplinary Team on matters relating to your specialist area.
* Provide a lead role in teaching and supervising physiotherapists, occupational therapists and students.
* Contribute to the development of the Hand Therapy service through promotion, adaptation and development of policies, procedures and guidelines using evidence-based practice and current research.


Requirements / Qualifications

* Proven leadership in hand therapy with a strong record of treating complex trauma.
* Ability to drive change and support development within a high-performing service.
