Position: Senior Exposure Management Analyst

The role
The role sits within exposure management (EM) part of the UK Data Team.
The EM team is responsible for the tracking and reporting of exposures across the business unit, this includes regulatory submissions, internal reporting and monitoring activities as well as development of the exposure management tools.
The main focus of this role is to gather, analyse and present data, supporting the UK business as well as group functions in building and evolving the exposure management activities aligned with the overall Hiscox UK and group EM Strategy. For this role we are looking for someone who can drive forward the way the UK business thinks about underwriting risk and the way these risks are described, measured, and reported. You will need to be able to find solutions to problems where there isn’t an established approach and influence other decision makers within the business.
What you’ll be doing
* Review and enhance the exposure management framework
* Develop and maintain data pipelines to enable us to easier and accurately monitor exposure across all of our UK products in a robust and repeatable manner
* Develop a standardised approach to understanding, measuring and recording our exposures which can easily be communicated to key stakeholders.
* Fulfil our internal and external reporting requirements while providing analysis on the bets we are taking, allowing us to maximise profits for a given level of risk, or minimise risk for a given level of profits
* Support group requests, such as realistic disaster scenario calculations
* Develop relationships with underwriting managers and product heads, understanding how the risks in their areas are evolving and measured
* Liaise and develop reporting links with Group Exposure Management teams
* Answer ad-hoc queries from senior stakeholders
Person Specification:
* Previous experience and proven success in a similar role
* Good general knowledge of programming and statistical tools such as Excel, SQL
* High level of numeric competence and excellent data gathering and manipulation skills
* Practical application of in-depth statistical skills within a business environment
* Strong analytical pragmatic reasoning skills
* An aptitude for innovative problem solving
* Excellent spread sheet skills and data manipulation
* Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate the complex
* Business/Customer Focussed
* Deadline oriented
* Hardworking, curious, passionate, enthusiastic and a self-starter
* Comfortable influencing and communicating across a matrix structure
* Experience of working with Underwriters
