Hays Education is seeking resilient, dedicated, andpassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to work within an alternative provision in South East Sheffield. This setting supports secondary aged students with severe behavioural needs, offering a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity for the right candidates.
We have immediate placements available and wee applications from professionals currently working with other agencies.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Supporting secondary‑aged students withplex SEMH and significant behavioural challenges to re‑engage with learning.
Working within an alternative provision environment focused on behaviour management, emotional regulation, and personal development.
Providing targeted one‑to‑one or small‑group support tailored to individual needs.
Assisting with classroom routines, behaviour de‑escalation strategies, and day‑to‑day activities.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Experience working with secondary‑aged children or young people with SEMH and severe behavioural needs.
2. A background in care or support roles, such as social care, youth work, mental health support, health and social care, or similar.
3. A calm, patient, and resilient approach, particularly in challenging situations.
4. Strongmunication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
5. Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential).
