Joining our Nursing & Midwifery Staff Bank as a Healthcare Support Worker (Band 2) gives you flexibility to book shifts across our major hospital sites and local services, building experience while supporting safe, high‑quality care across the Board.

* Open to all, including current nursing students looking to gain paid clinical experience as Band 2/Bank HCSWs alongside their studies. Mental Health student nurses are welcome to apply and will be contacted in due course with further information

What you’ll do
As part of a multidisciplinary team and under the direction of Registered Nurses you’ll deliver safe, effective, person‑centred support, which may include: assisting with personal care, mobility and nutrition; basic observations; maintaining a clean, safe environment; and accurate documentation.
Where you’ll work & how you’ll book shifts
Bank HCSWs support services across all NHSGGC sites. Shifts are released through LOOP, with additional support from our Staff Bank call centre (open 08:00–20:30, seven days a week) to help you match your availability to service demand.
Training, induction & support
You’ll complete NHSGGC’s HCSW induction and mandatory learning to ensure safe, effective, person‑centred practice in your area(s) of work.

* Band 2 HCSW roles are not eligible for Skilled Worker sponsorship. Applicants must already have, and maintain, the Right to Work in the UK for the duration of employment.
* NHSGGC holds a sponsor licence and follows strict Home Office governance. Standard wording on eligibility to work in the UK is included in all adverts and checks are completed as part of pre‑employment.
Pre‑employment checks
Appointment is subject to standard NHS pre‑employment checks, including Right to Work and PVG membership (Disclosure Scotland), where required for the assignment. Please note all preemployment checks and learning must be concluded with 6 week of conditional offer.
