Short Intro and About the Job
We currently have an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician, working Monday to Friday with a start time between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, for 8 hours per day.
The Laboratory Technician role plays an important role in assisting the Company to achieve high standards of quality and food safety. This role is part of a small, committed team and reports into the Laboratory Manager.
The main objective of this role is to systematically and, according to fixed procedures, execute controls on raw materials, on semi-finished products, on the process and on finished products to detect non-conformities. Quality and Food Safety Procedures and Instructions to be followed.
About You
You will be able to work using your own initiative, have the ability to prioritise and think ahead with strong communication skills and be able to solve technical and complex problems.
The following qualifications/skills are required:
1. Good laboratory techniques and physio-chemical analyses
2. Knowledge of microbiological analyses
3. Knowledge of current software (Excel, Word etc)
4. Previous experience in a Laboratory environment
Key accountabilities, deliverables & KPIs, impact on business results
Result area 1
Perform quality controls according to fixed methods and procedures:
5. Take samples in production area
6. Quality and Food Safety Procedures and Instructions to be followed
7. Prepare samples in the lab
8. Prepare the necessary reagents
9. Perform standard analyses while observing the fixed working methods, sometimes using complex automated analysis instruments – Protein, dry matters, calcium, pH, sediment, rest peroxide
10. Compare the results with the fixed norms
11. Water Analysis
12. Packaging checks

13. Process the analysis results (in SAP or Excel, report these results and non-conformities to the QC-Manager.
14. Positively release finished products.

15. Calibrate all necessary instruments according to fixed methods and procedures

16. Proceed meticulously so that analysis results are reliable and accurate
17. Have a critical attitude towards the obtained analysis results
18. Hold any nonconforming products

19. Perform sensorial analyses on (semi-)finished products
20. Take part in a taste panel, preferably as calibrated taster.

21. Plate samples for TVC
22. Investigative work into nonsterile products

23. Maintain order and tidiness in the lab and related areas (including the cleaning of instruments).

Other Activities:
24. Take care of specific quality trainings to production personnel
25. Under the direction of the lab coordinator perform analyses on products using alternative analysis methods and instruments
26. Work in NIR implementation
27. Taking the lead on ad-hoc projects and trials
Result area 9
Specific:
28. Microbiology experience minimum 8-monthsPreparing samples for testing, streaking method, colony counting, Confirmatory testing – Streaking colonies onto differential medium and subsequent confirmatory Vitek 2 analysis.Microbial Identification – Using Gram staining and an array of Biochemical and Chromogenic tests. Would be beneficial: rapid testing via VIDAS Immunoassay
29. Laboratory good manufacturing practices strong knowledge
30. Good Excel knowledge
31. LIMs system experience
32. Capabilities and aim to Training new laboratory staff.
