Scientific Officer Scientific Officer – Biological Resources UnitSalary: £25,000–£30,000 Contract: PermanentLocation: Manchester We are seeking a motivated Scientific Officer to join the Transgenic Team, supporting the care, welfare and breeding management of transgenic mice under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986. Key Responsibilities: Daily husbandry, welfare checks and record‑keeping Managing transgenic breeding colonies Supporting processes such as cryopreservation and rederivation Working to SOPs and promoting the 3Rs Participating in weekend and bank holiday rotas Contributing to facility upkeep and equipment maintenance Essential: HNC in Animal Technology (or equivalent) Current/previous Personal Licence (PIL A–B) Experience in transgenic mouse breeding and colony management Strong organisational and communication skills Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to work independently Flexibility, including weekend/bank holiday work Desirable: Degree in Biological Sciences Experience with oncology strains or complex breeding schemes Experience with cryopreservation techniques What you need to do nowIf you are interested in this role, please forward an up-to-date copy of your CV.
