Job Overview
Neuro OT band 5 or 6 depending on experience. Part time (30 hours 0.8 WTE) fixed term contract until 1.2.2027.
Location: Guildford and Waverley, main base Milford hospital.
Team and Support
You will be supported by the Band 7 clinical specialist neuro OT, Band 7 clinical specialist neuro physiotherapist and other neuro physiotherapists in the team. You will also work closely with Rehabilitation Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists and Clinical Specialist Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s Disease (PD) Nurses.
Role
Your role as a Community Neuro specialist OT will be to work with clients aged 18 years and up, to provide a high-quality client-led and goal-focused rehabilitation. You will work with clients with conditions such as stroke, brain injury, MS and Parkinson's. Your interventions include cognitive rehab, fatigue management, upper limb rehab and opportunities for developing skills in neuro splinting.
Responsibilities
The post holder assists in the development, administration and provision of a specialist Community Neurology Occupational Therapy service; carrying a varied caseload of patients with a wide range of neurological diagnoses. Managing complex assessments, with predominantly physical conditions and with regard to the physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual and social aspects of their care.
Regular 1:1 supervision and participation in neuro-specific in-service training programme monthly. Monthly MDT meetings with the MS and PD clinical nurse specialists further develop your skills in the management of these client groups.
Driving
Being a car driver is essential, as you will drive across Guildford and Waverley. Free parking is available at Milford hospital, which will be your main base.
